2025 Old Newsboys Grant Application Guidelines
Before completing the attached application form, please read the following instructions:
Applicants must be defined as a charity, not simply have tax-exempt status. The organization must be devoted to serving needy children and that must be the reason and focus for its existence. To receive funding, applicants must demonstrate the exact benevolent activities that are taken by the agency to serve financially needy children.
Selection Criteria
Agencies must:
1) Be located in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area or closely adjacent area. This area includes the Missouri counties of St. Louis (including St. Louis City), St. Charles, Lincoln, Jefferson, Franklin, Warren and Montgomery and the Illinois Counties of Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, Clinton, Jersey, Calhoun, Greene, and Macoupin.
2) Demonstrate that an award will provide a direct benefit to needy children. Special consideration will be given to agencies serving children deemed “at risk due to economic hardships.” The request should be for clothing, medicine, equipment, financial aid, services and other items that have a direct impact. Requests should not be for operational expenses, tuition, staff salaries, supplies, janitorial services, rent, gift cards, etc.
3) Submit the following required documents: _ A copy of the agency’s current federal IRS 501(c)3 tax determination letter (Missouri or Illinois sales and use tax-exempt documents are not acceptable.) If your agency’s tax determination letter is issued to a member group or affiliation, please include proof of membership or affiliation. _ A current roster of the agency’s board and officers. _ An itemized list of the items to be purchased, ranked in order of importance. _ If your organization was a recipient of an Old Newsboys grant for 2024, you must submit a copy of the original sales receipt for the items purchased in order to be eligible for a 2025 grant.
